Robin Levien is one of the most successful and innovative designers in the UK. His Trend tableware for Rosenthal Thomas has been a European top seller for 25 years, with other ranges created for Italian, American, German, Danish and Portuguese clients continuing in popularity. One in seven bathrooms in the UK have products designed by Levien and his colleague of 20 years Dave Tilbury. In 1999 he set up Studio Levien in partnership with his wife Patricia Stainton to concentrate on designing best-selling products for clients all over the world.
In recognition of his sustained excellence as a designer, Levien received the distinction of Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) from the Royal Society for Arts in 1995. He has won many awards, including two Design Week Awards in 1990 and 1997, the FX International Interior Design Award and a D AD Silver Award in 1999. Levien is a visiting professor at the London Institute and was made an honorary Doctor at Staffordshire University in 2006. In 2007 he received a Special Commendation in the Prince Philip Designers Prize and in 2008 Homes Gardens magazine gave him a Lifetime Achievement award.
