Elisabeth Vidal was born in 1967, and grew up in the south of France. She studied industrial design at the ESDI (Ecole Supérieure de Design Industriel) in Paris, graduated in 1989 and continued her education with a Master Degree at the Domus Academy in Milan in 1990, where she successively worked as a tutor of the design course.
An interlude in the Netherlands in 1993 brought her to collaborate with the TNO Research Center in Delft, on products related to agriculture.
Back in Milan, she collaborated with the design studio Susani & Trimarchi, working on tableware projects, and with Isao Hosoe Design studio on train and car interiors and office furnishing.
In 1998, she opened her own studio. Her design work is a continuous research on aesthetics and function related to the harmony and beauty of gestures in our daily experience.
The last few years she has dedicated part of her activity to the direct contact with matter, creating one-off handmade ceramic objects.
Her work with industry evolves in various fields; designing tableware for clients such as Guzzini, Egizia, Rosenthal, Faraone, and Danese; household articles for Belli & Forti; children’s products for Fisher Price, Lego, Prénatal, and Fila Sportswear; home furnishing accessories for Toyama Design Center, Arbos; kitchen appliances for Homs, Siris…
She teaches at the IED (Istituto Europeo de Design) and at the Polidesign (consortium of the Politecnico of Milan).
